Friday, 5th October 2018, is the opening day of the 2018 ECA Ocean Racing European Championships.
Opening ceremony will start at 19:00 and it will be the official beginning of the European Championships which will be held in Spanish coastal town Villajoyosa. Over 180 athletes from ten European countries have entered the competition so far.
Races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The race course will be between La Vila Joiosa and Campello/Altea. On Saturday the race will be organised between 10:00 and 16:00 (depending in the wind), and on Sunday between 10:00 and 12:30 (also depending on the wind). On Saturday competitors in Junior, U23 and Senior SS1 categories will fight for the European Champion titles, while on Sunday we will follow the master, SS2 and OC1 events.
Athletes who will compete at this year’s ocean racing European Championships are experienced ocean racing paddlers, wildwater paddlers and sprint/marathon paddlers, and all will try to show their best form on the competition day to reach the winner’s podium.
The following European countries will have their competitors participating at the European Championships in Spain: Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and of course Spain.
