The 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš, Slovakia, will kick off today with an opening ceremony, and the races are scheduled to begin on Thursday and will end on Sunday. More than 300 competitors from 31 European countries are on the startlist.

This year's ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships attracted young but already experienced paddlers as well as many new names who will fight for the European Champion titles between Thursday and Sunday.
 
Paddlers from Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Spain, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey and Ukraine will all seek the best possible results.
 
Slovak team is always strong and will be even more motivated to prove its value at the home course. Jakub Grigar, Marko Mirgorodsky, Sona Stanovska, Monika Skachova, Emanuela Luknarova, Eliska Mintalova and Simona Macekova are only a few of Slovak paddlers who will aim for the top positions. The task will not be easy since many European teams came here with their strongest contenders for the podium. In Czech team we can find Vaclav Chaloupka, Tereza Fiserova, Antonie Galuskova, Amalie Hilgertova, Eva Rihova, Gabriela and Martina Satkova, in team Andorra Monica Doria Vilarrubla, in Austrian team Mario Leitner, Felix Oschmautz, Matthias Weger, in Spanish team David Llorente, Laia Sorribes, Miquel Trave, Pau Echaniz, in French team among others Malo Quemeneur, Romane Prigent, Mathurin Madore, Margaux Henry, Marjorie Delassus, in British team Bethan Forrow, Samuel Ibbotson, in German team Anna Faber, Selina Jones, Lennard Tuchscherer, in Italian team Raffaello Ivaldi, Marta Bertoncelli, Paolo Ceccon, Jakob Weger, in Polish team Kacper Sztuba and Klaudia Zwolinska and in Slovenian team Eva Alina Hocevar, Zan Jakse, Niko Testen, Lan Tominc ...
 
The first heats will be on Thursday, when men's canoe and women's kayak races in U23 and junior category will be held. The competition day will start at 13:00 local time. On Friday the remaining heats in women's C1 and men's K1 junior and U23 categories will start at 8:15, and at 14:30 all the team races will be held. On Saturday we will follow semifinal and final races in men's C1 and women's K1 events (start of semifinal at 11:15 and final at 15:15). The 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships will conclude on Sunday with women's C1 and men's K1 semifinals and finals (at 9:00 and 13:30).
