'Traveling 20.000 kilometers to meet someone you haven`t seen for 55 years... This is a first in my life.'
Back in the 1950s, Hungary. Teenagers Gyorgy Molnar and Ivan Gaal spent the best part of their leisure time on the river Danube in Budapest -- in a canoe. Now in their 70s, they recollect the memories of their friendship while archive footages help us turn back the clock and relive the era and the events of the revolution in 1956. The revolution, that tore the promising canoe duo apart: Ivan emigrated to Australia, Gyorgy remained in Hungary. Two completely different characters and fates unfold in the past and the present as the two men anxiously prepare for the great reunion.
Will they have anything to say to each other when Ivan travels to Hungary to see his friend after 55 years? Can a true friendship survive half a century of seperation and lives spent on different continents, or it just makes it stronger?
