Hank McGregor claimed an eighth world title on the final day of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Marathon World Championships in Brandenburg today as Hungary otherwise continued their dominant streak.

The South Africa, who claimed K1 gold yesterday, joined forces with Jasper Mocke to win the K2 26.2 miles event in 2hours 06min 28.6sec.

Adrián Boros and László Solti claimed Hungarian silver in 2:06:29.1, while there was another South African medal with bronze for Andrew Birkett and Louis Hattingh.

There was no stopping Hungarian paddlers elsewhere in German water.

Star of the show was Csay who achieved her second gold of the weekend and 18th in total after teaming up with Alexandra Bara in the K2 women’s race.

They won in 2:02:09.6 to beat South Africa's Jenna Ward and Kyeta Purchase while Zsófia Giczy and Sára Anna Mihalik took Hungarian bronze.

Martin Kover replicated his teammates brace of titles in similar fashion by successfully combining with Ádám Docze in the C2 event.

It marked a seventh world title for the 28-year-old as they finished 33 seconds clear in 2:05.27.1.

Ramon Ferro and Oscar Grana and Spain crossed second while bronze went to Zoltán Koleszar and Bence Balázs Dori of Hungary.

For good measure, the European powerhouse also claimed junior success as Erik Petro and Adam Varga took men's K2 honours while Daniel Laczo and Tamas Bako won the C2 event.

This rounded out an unprecedented medal haul for the Eastern European nation with a tally of 27.

They won 14 gold medals from a possible 34 over the 17 races.

Pietermaritzburg in South Africa will host the next edition of the World Championships in September 2017.
